A Woman of Vision and Action is one who practices compassion, courage and spirit-infused action in her daily life and in fulfilling her life purpose. She honors all life, sustained and supported by planet Earth. She respects all differences in life, with sensitivity and understanding. She works towards the resolution of disputes personally, nationally and globally through dialogue and mediation. She holds the space for healing in difficult situations, thinking the best for herself and others. She aspires towards a positive attitude and willingness to affirm positive outcomes and works toward positive solutions in all situations. She honors the sacredness of ALL life and the gifts of diversity in ethnic, racial, religious backgrounds, beliefs and ideologies. She embraces all children in the world and seeks to create a world where they can thrive.

Jean Shinoda Bolen, MD, psychiatrist, author of The Millionth Circle, The Tao of Psychology, Goddesses in Everywoman, Gods in Everyman, Ring of Power, Crossing to Avalon, and Close to the Bone.   She is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, University of California Medical Center, an internationally known lecturer, a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Psychoanalysis, a Fellow and former member of the Board of Trustees of the American Orthopsychiatric Association, and a former Board member of the International Transpersonal Association. She founded and co-chaired Psychiatrists for ERA, which was a major influence within psychiatry in the early 1980's, that evolved into the Association for Women in Psychiatry.

Hanne Strong is the President of the Manitou Foundation and Manitou Institute, which supports a number of spiritual and environmental projects. She is the Founder of the largest and most established Interfaith Community in North America, Founder of Earth Restoration Corps and Co-Founder of The International Women’s Foundation for Earth Restoration. In addition, Hanne has founded numerous non-profit organizations for Native Americans, handicapped and homeless children and has worked extensively with Native Americans and other indigenous peoples in their struggle for the preservation of their spiritual and cultural values.


Ellen Schwartz, co-author of Taking Back our Lives in the Age of Corporate Dominance, Founder and Executive Director of Invest in Kids, an organization that provides scholarships and mentors to low-income, at-risk youth. She was the recipient of the Thread of Hope Award in 1996 and the Women of Achievement Community and Human Services Award in 1997.

Alison Van Dyk, Director, Transpersonal Sand Play Therapy Center is an independent counseling center for children and families in Greenwich, CT. For the past 16 years the Center has been providing therapy for children and families in the Tri-State area. She has dual Masters Degrees in Clinical Psychology and Transpersonal Psychology (see her website at Sand Play.Net). Since 1967, Alison has served on the Board of the Temple of Understanding, North America's oldest interfaith organization, and currently serves as the Executive Vice President of the Board.
