About the therapist

Mary Ovenstone practices as a psychotherapist and relationship counselor in Cape Town and still has clients in Toronto where she lived for 10 years. A frequent guest on radio and TV, she speaks and conducts workshops throughout Southern Africa, Europe and North America. The psycho-spiritual framework for her work has emerged from over 25 years of spiritual study and practice, 9 of which were spent living in Christian communities in South Africa, Canada and the USA.

In essence, Mary is a gifted healer as well as a counselor. In addition to her training in psychotherapy in Toronto, after much study in shamanic practices, Mary was initiated in Botswana as a Sangoma in 2000. She has studied shadow work, psychodrama, hypnosis, toning, eye movement technology and acupuncture, and was an accredited AvatarŪ trainer. Recently Mary has returned to her Christian roots to inform her work. Mary has developed unique and powerful ways of processing the blockages in the psyche. She is currently writing a book on midlife and the rite of passage into Elderhood she has developed. A mother of two young adults, Mary has also had a successful career in communications, fund raising and film production in Canada.

July 2005

Dear Clients and Friends,

I have several workshops planned for the remainder of 2005 that I'd like to tell you about. I've attached fliers for each. Perhaps you will be interested in attending one or may know someone who would be.
I'll be speaking at Spirit Week, which has replaced the Art of Living Festival, during the weekend of    Sept 23-25. I'll be speaking on Midlife in a two hour workshop, and then, by request of Anni Hennop the new festival CEO, on my personal testimony moving from Sangoma to Christian healer. I hope you will come along if you are interested.

This year I will be doing only two more of my Release YourSelf workshops (5-7 August and 25-27 November), which I've developed over the last 10 years to address and process your core issues-it is truly transformative. In addition, since so many of those who come to me have anger issues, I will be doing a new experiential workshop The Anatomy of Anger focusing entirely on Anger (3 Sept.). This will also be good for those who have already done the Release YourSelf workshop and would like to do another piece of anger work.

Since I've been doing so much relationship counseling, I've realized there is a real need for a workshop devoted to the understanding of the real differences between men and women, of partnerships and for the development of relationship skills. So I'll be doing two Relationship Intensives (27 Aug. and 10 Dec.)

I will be continuing with my latest work focusing on Midlife with a daylong workshop Midlife: The Challenge of Change (10 Sept) to delve into the topic. And then in October, we will be doing a very exciting residential Midlife Rite of Passage experiential weekend at the magnificent farm High Noon in Villiersdorp (21-23 Oct.) and in Jo'burg (4-6 Nov.).

I am planning a rite of passage for Girls into Womanhood (for girls 18-30) for the weekend of 11-13 November, also at High Noon. This will have two evenings of preparation in the weeks beforehand. I will send you the flier and more information in the next couple of weeks.

Below is the schedule of events for 2005. If you know of anyone you think might be interested in any of these events, please pass on this email and/or any of the attached flyers. I look forward to seeing you at a workshop or for a session with me whenever you need it.

Pease call Nicky on 072 150 7744 or email ovenmits@iafrica.com if you would like to book for any of these workshops.  I would be happy to discuss any queries with you.

Warmly,

Mary Ovenstone
